FootingFirst has been a leader in the development of synthetic equestrian footing since introducing the highly-acclaimed TravelRight and TraveLite surfaces. While we continue to manufacture these quality products, we are determined to produce superior riding surfaces for every equestrian discipline. After years of research and hands-on experience, we have developed a range of footing surfaces, including the innovative dust-free TravelBright Surface.
Who is FootingFirst?
The owners of FootingFirst, Lawton Adams and Karen Leeming, each have nearly 30 years of experience in riding arena planning, construction, and footing installation.
Lawton Adams
As president of Lawton Adams Construction Corp, Lawton has constructed and designed every aspect of indoor and outdoor arenas, from drainage to finish footing. Lawton’s personal knowledge of excavating and grading, and familiarity with the characteristics of building materials, ensures that your project will be completed efficiently and professionally. The company has been in business for over 70 years, and has established itself as an industry leader and an expert in agricultural, earth-friendly products and alternative building materials.
Karen Leeming
Karen Leeming brings her significant equestrian expertise to the company. An accomplished rider herself, Karen was also the manager of the Canadian Olympic Equestrian Team in 2000, and again in 2002 for the World Equestrian Games. At the Athens Games, Karen was part of the Kentucky Equine Research Team, responsible for meeting the horses’ feeding and nutritional needs. This knowledge, together with her equestrian skills, enables Karen to work closely with riders and stable managers to create the best possible footing surface for each unique situation.
