TravelRight FAQs

Why is TravelRight footing blend different from other footings?

TravelRight arena footing is a unique product with many advantages that improve your riding surface. This footing is naturally dust-free and does not need to be watered. TravelRight will not compact, resists tracking, and has a slight cushioning effect when riding or jumping. TravelRight performs flawlessly in indoor and outdoor arenas, and has been used for international competitions and World Cup Qualifiers. Many other products exist, but none can give you all the benefits of TravelRight.

How often will I have to water?

Never. TravelRight has a special component that eliminates dust, and never has to be watered.

Does it freeze?

TravelRight and all our dust-free blends have a very slight change from summer to winter. However they do not freeze and the outdoor arenas are exceptional through the winter. As soon as the snow melts, the outdoor arena will be ready to go, along with horse and rider.

How much maintenance is required?

TravelRight arena footing is a very low-maintenance surface. Horse manure should be removed immediately after riding or training. If manure is left to contaminate the footing, the manure could become dusty. The fiber in the mix stabilizes the footing so it stays in place. You do not have to turn it or aerate the material, and it doesn’t require aggressive dragging. Maintenance will be minimal depending on arena use and location (discipline, number of daily riders, indoors vs. outdoor arena, etc.). TravelRight will not compact. We can also supply a custom harrow to maintain the riding surface.

Will horses slip while jumping or lunging?

TravelRight arena footing is a very stable surface with good traction.Olympic riders have told us that their horses are very confident on TravelRight and perform exceptionally well. Horses will not slide or slip on this footing, which makes it perfect for Dressage, Pleasure, Jumping, and English riding. This footing cannot be used for Reigning, because the horses can’t slide on it. It also gives jumpers a cushioned landing, and does not displace in landing or take-off areas.

Will it get stuck in horses' hooves?

No. TravelRight horse arena footing does not clump or become wet and sticky because it does not retain or absorb water. TravelRight will absorb the shock of a horse’s hoof rather than being displaced by it. The arena footing will stay in place and track minimally to the outside of the arena, unlike most footings.

Does TravelRight break down?

TravelRight is a unique formula that makes the footing very stable. With proper maintenance the components will last for many years. After years of heavy use, key components can be added to replenish the footing without having to replace the arena. TravelRight does not breakdown or become toxic in any way.

Does it smell?

There is a slight odor that some sensitive noses pick up, sometimes.

Will my horse eat it?

Customers have told us that their horses are not attracted to the material.

For five years in a row, TravelRight arena footing has been the footing of choice at the Syracuse Invitational Sport Horse Show, which also hosts The National Horse Show. It received high praise from the international riders competing there:

Todd Minikus, on the stability of TravelRight riding surface:

”The true test of footing is that it stays the same whether you are the first to jump or the last to go, and this footing does that remarkably well.”

Henri Prudent:

“It is an excellent footing for indoors.”

“This footing is as good as it gets for competing indoors!”
